The Yard is a space for neighbors to be neighborly. We believe that joy, connection, and support should be part of everyday life. Whether you're here to hang out, share a skill, find a friend, or just catch your breath, the Yard is ours.
We want this to be a place where
Strengths meet needs. Dreams meet support. Neighbors meet neighbors.

Clarksburg has grown fast, but a lot of the places we were promised - to hang out, connect, and just enjoy life - never really showed up. As a church full of locals, we felt that gap too, especially for our Clarksburg teens who didn’t have many options. That’s when we realized: we’ve got land, and we could actually do something about it. The Yard is our way of creating a space where everyone can come together to relax, play, connect, and feel like they belong.

The Yard is funded through a mix of local donations, grants, and public support. So far, we’ve raised thousands from individuals and secured several grants, including a $150,000 Maryland State Bond Bill and a Green Space Equity Grant. Local fundraising continues to play a vital role in showing community support and unlocking further funding.

The Yard is being developed in thoughtful stages:
Phase Zero: Planning and design (complete)
Phase One: Coffee bar + outdoor gathering/play space (In the process)
Phase Two: Community path
Phase Three: Quiet "restore" area with a meditation labyrinth

The Yard sits on land owned by Clarksburg Church, but it’s not just a church project. It’s a community one. While the church initiated the vision, The Yard is being designed through community input and for the benefit of all, regardless of background or belief. It's a shared space built with, and for, the people of Clarksburg.
